The Friends of the Lake Community Swim - Presented by the Lake Windermere Aquathlon Society

OVERVIEW

 Join us for a no-pressure community swim event.  The goal is to swim 1500m together as a group, but at your own pace and enjoy the late summer waters of Lake Windermere.  The Friends of the Lake Community Swim is held in the warm, pristine waters of the Columbia Valley's Lake Windermere, BC.  

After swimming, Trihub.ca, our partner Swimwear, and Multisport store have sponsored a light snack and coffee - free of charge! 

We are less than a week out from our fun community swim on Lake Windermere.  The mornings have been a little chilly this week so we are bumping the start time of our swim ahead to 9:00 am. 

The lake has also been very calm and clear, so this should make for a really great swim.  But come prepared for cool water and potentially cool air as fall approaches.

Wetsuits are strongly encouraged for safety and comfort.  We will be setting up turn buoys for our swim route, which will cover approximately 500m distance for a loop.  This way folks can choose a distance of 500m, 1000m, or 1500m.  More details will be available on the morning of the swim!   See you there!

COST: 

- Triathlon BC or AB member - $0 (free event with insurance with coverage through Triathlon BC)

No Triathlon BC or AB membership?  No problem!  But we do need to collect an insurance fee. 

- Non-member - $20 (insurance cost - payment with all major credit or debit cards at the event location on swim morning (come early if you are a non-member)

SWIM ABILITY

All swimmers should be totally confident to swim 1500m.  You can take breaks to tread water and use any stroke you want! 

VOLUNTEER

Bring a spouse, partner, or friend with a kayak or paddleboard to support swimmers.  

SAFETY

There will be some boat support on-site, however, this is a swim at your own risk event.
