ABOUT BÍOS

We are a group of athletes interested in swimming for both fitness and social connection.  We are all ages from 16 to 65, both students and non-students, competitive, and non competitive.  The name Bíos is an ancient greek word meaning the "activity of life".  Part of the philosophy of the Bíos Triathlon Team is that swimming provides us with a venue for social engagement as well as an opportunity to develop our fitness through prioritizing an active lifestyle.   You certainly don't need to be a triathlete to be a part of Bíos, and our members swim for all kinds of reasons.  Many folks swim for triathlon, masters, fitness, or just to meet interesting people and challenge themselves.

Our club welcomes both competitive and non-competitive swimmers.

Assistant Coach - Adam Bradshaw

Hi! I'm Adam, and I'm a current Masters student in Biomedical Engineering at the UofC. I have been a swimmer as long as I can remember, and I raced competitively for 12 years as a kid growing up in Seattle, WA.

While attending the University of Colorado Boulder for my undergraduate degree, I raced for the CU Triathlon Team, and fell in love with tri. I've raced about a dozen Olympic and Sprint distance triathlons, duathlons, and aquathons over the last 7 years, including the 2018 and 2019 USA Collegiate National Championships and the 2022 XTERRA USA Championships. I have always enjoyed sharing my love for swimming with other athletes, and I'm excited to help our Bios athletes succeed in the water!

Coach (Program Facilitator) - Lorin Inglis

Hi there!  I’m Lorin and I’m one of the organizers with the Bíos triathlon club.  I started out in triathlon as a runner first, but soon discovered swimming as one of the best low impact recovery activities.  After a trip to California I discovered the culture of outdoor swimming and got involved with triathlon.  Since that I've been totally hooked on swimming both indoors and outdoors.  Swimming technique has became an absolute obsession for me, and  I like helping new swimmers discover how small changes can really improve their efficiency.   I’m always thrilled to see a swimmer discover the joy of swimming through small changes in stroke technique and form.  I love distance swimming because it requires both a relaxed component and a sustained concentration on cardiac output and  form, just like running!  I've never left the pool not feeling amazing!
